This Week...

Lots of new features: Kig python scripting support, Kpilot Palm generic db viewer, an action menu in Konqueror to print files, Dvd burning in K3b, RDP support completed in Krdc and an httpmail protocol ioslave. Plus many ARts bugfixes, Kdevelop and Quanta fixes and improvements.
I received a somewhat cryptic note from Arend van Beelen about Krdc, saying:
just a moment ago the RDP configuration dialogs for KRDC went into CVS. With these, RDP support in KRDC should be as good as completed.
Krdc is the Kde remote desktop client, which support VNC (Virtual Network Computing) and now RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol), which is a Microsoft protocol to remotely access the user's NT desktop. Bugs notwithstanding, the implementation is now complete, and can be moved into the Finished section.
Jeroen Wijnhout announced that Kile was upgraded:
We have the pleasure to announce that version 1.5.2 of Kile -- an Integrated LaTeX Editor -- has been released. Kile is in the kdeextragear-2 module.

Compared to version 1.5 there are some feature enhancements and many bugfixes.

  • forward search now works with included sources as well
  • user can define an arbitrary number of user tools/tags
  • autosave (optional)
  • user can stop running processes (for example latex)
  • better syntax highlighting (deals with \verb and verbatim environment)
  • summary of compilation results after running LaTeX
  • support for templates
  • improved error handling
  • separate output-view for raw output of latex and other tools
  • many small improvements in the interface
  • more flexible command syntax, instead of having latex and pdflatex as commands, one can use latex %S.tex or make %S.dvi now
  • fixed spell checking bugs
  • many other small bugfixes (see bugs.kde.org)
