This Week...

KHotkeys now has a gui. KOrganizer now supports todo attachments. Kexi has a postgresql driver. Bug fixes in Khtml layer support and rendering engine. Many bugfixes in KMail, Kopete, Korganizer.
We are very close to feature and string freeze in the 3.2 release cycle. After Sunday the 26th, only urgent fixes will be accepted, and Beta 1 will be packaged and released. As the deadline approaches, it has become apparent that some features won't be ready. Already many features planned for 3.2 have been delayed until 3.3. The commit logs for kde-features.xml tells us what features are being postponed.
Craig Drummond, Roberto Teixeira, Lisiane Teixeira and Lauri Watts went through the KDE applications with the comment:
Changing "directory" to "folder" as discussed on kde-i18n-doc and kde-core-devel
The discussion was mostly in favor of the change, with some wondering if such a big change so late in the release cycle was possible. Christoph Niemann cited the Linux Usability Study page 42 where it was indicated that users found "directory" confusing. Others wondered if changing a fundamental "unixism" was appropriate. Charles de Miramon indicated that the French Translation Team already translate "folder" and "directory" to one French word "dossier". Eventually the consensus view was "this needs to be done at some point, why not now".
